SNP has successfully implemented the orientation of 2018: "Harmonious development, sustainable growth", completed the business plan 15 days in advance and exceeded the 2018 busines plan: With the highest business indicators ever, total throughput reached nearly 7.6 million TEUs, increased by 10% and hold nearly 50% market share of the nationwide; revenue increased by 12%, profit increased by 15%; labor productivity increased by 18%; The average income of workers increased by 7.7%. SNP continues to maintain its position as the largest container port operator in Vietnam. Besides, SNP is ranked up one step from the 22nd to the 21th on the ranking of the largest container port worldwide and in top 20 leading logistics enterprises in Vietnam. Tan Cang Cat Lai terminal is the first port of Vietnam to receive the "Green Port" award of APEC port services network, continuing to be container terminal which has the highest throughput in Vietnam with a total throughput of over 4.72 million Teu. Tan Cang - Cai Mep International Container Terminal continues to be the largest deep-water port in Vietnam in 8 consecutive years. In 2018, TCIT reached 1.639.290 Teu, increased by 12% over the same period in 2017. SNP received the title of "Enterprise for Employees" for the third time and the "Vietnam Value" for the fifth time.
- Completing construction, putting into operation of Haiphong International container Terminal from May 13th, 2018: HICT is the first deep-sea port of the Northern key economic region which is able to receive vessels up to 100,000 DWT. The port of HICT plays an important role in economic connection, contributing to reduce shipping costs, thereby reducing logistics costs for businesses, increasing the competitiveness for Vietnam's import and export cargo. Together with Cat Bi International Airport, Hanoi - Haiphong Highway, HICT contributes to complete connection of seaport and airport system and transport infrastructure between Haiphong and other provinces and cities in the country as well as connecting to the world; create motivation for the development of deep-sea port system and logistics activities in the North of Vietnam, contribute to promoting the socio-economic development of the country. In 2019, big shipping lines have plans to deploy mother vessels which provide direct services from HICT to the US, opening up many opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises in the Northern provinces to reduce costs and save time to export cargo to USA.
- Breakthrough application of modern technology and administrative reforms. Tan Cang Cat Lai terminal is the first and only port of Vietnam to implement "electronic port" (ePort) for the online procedures and payment ; This is now being implemented to other ports of SNP in Ho Chi Minh, Cai Mep and Hai Phong. Customers can access eport via SNP's website: https://eport.saigonnewport.com.vn/ or ePort application on the mobile devices. In particular, after the successful implementation of the electronic delivery order (EDO) with Maersk Line, EDO will be applied to all the shipping lines and create the revolution in the modernization and reduction in term of the receipt/ delivery procedures at ports and shipping lines, make utility for customers. SNP will continue to enhance utilities for supporting customers in procedures and online payments through the application on mobile devices; create a premise to modernize, automate Tan Cang Cat Lai Terminal and pioneer in applying achievements of Industry 4.0. Improving the terminal formalities, simplify procedures, improving labor productivity; reducing 21% of human resource in departments directly related to administrative reforms and application of modern technology.
- Implementing solutions for operation, improving quality for port operation, logistics services, sea transport and offshores services. Improving the receive capacity and attracting more vessels and goods to port. Logistics production increased by over 20%; production of sea transport and offshores services increased by over 15% compared to those of 2017. Effectively exploiting services; Expanding markets in industrial zones and key economic areas. Innovating, effectively connecting the entire system on 03 core business and strengthening cooperation with shipping lines, customers, major domestic and foreign partners such as PSA Singapore, Sovico Holdings, creating many development opportunities for SNP.
Haiphong International Container Terminal - The first deep water terminal in the North of Vietnam.

HICT is located in Lach Huyen, Cat Hai town, Cat Hai district, Hai Phong city. It is the first deep water terminal of the Northern key economic area having the details of the infrastructure as follows: 44.9 hectares of total area, 16m of berth depth, 660m of turning basin, 14m of channel chart datum, 750m of berth length. Terminal design capacity is 1.1 million TEU per year. HICT can accomodate container vessel with a capacity of 14,000 TEUs and general ships having the tonnage up to 16,000 DWT. From HICT, import and export cargo from the North of Vietnam can be shipped on the mother vessels to Europe and America directly instead of transshipment via another overseas ports as before.
HICT have been invested with advanced and synchronous facilities and equipment online with the professional logistics, maritime, pilot and towage services. The operation of HICT will cut down the sea freight and thus reduce the logistics cost for enterprises, increase the competitiveness of Vietnam's imports and exports, motivate the development of the deep water sea port system and logistics activities in the North and promote the socio-economic development of the country.
HICT is located at the favorable location. It is the connecting point of inland waterways and coastal road to Quang Ninh province and all provinces in the midland of the North. HICT is connected with Tancang 128 terminal, Tancang 189 terminal and Tancang - Hai Phong ICD and Tancang – Ha Nam ICD. It is connected to the key economic regions of the North, Centre of Vietnam and Southwest China via the Tan Vu Lach Huyen bridge and Haiphong – Hanoi expressway (130-170 km away from Hanoi,: 125 - 143km away from Bac Ninh, 118 - 140km away from Hung Yen, 92 – 107 km away from Hai Duong, 26-50km away from Hai Phong, 60 - 88km away from Quang Ninh, 122 - 139km away from Ha Nam, 181 - 199km away from Vinh Phuc)

VPA Annual Meeting 2018
The Vietnam Seaports Association (VPA) Annual Meeting 2018 is scheduled to be held at Duyen Ha Resort, Cam Ranh on September 19-20, 2018, hosted by Cam Ranh Port.
Participants to the Meeting include directors and key managers from 69 member ports and potential new member ports; senior officials from the Government Office, Ministry of Transport (MOT), Vietnam Maritime Administration (Vinamarine), local authorities, representatives from other associations and other key stakeholders in the maritime community. Central and local mass media will also be invited to cover the event.
The Meeting is a forum for assessing opportunities and challenges, exchange experiences, discuss and give opinions on key issues such as port master planning, investment, public private partnership in port development in general, and port management, operations, safety, security, ITC systems, etc. in particular. On the association side, issues such as evaluation of port development, promotion of market transparency and fair competition, pricing & tariffs; recommendations to the Government and relevant authorities are also on the agenda.
Vietnam economy is developing steadily with new potentials and opportunities for local and foreign investment and increasing demand in port facilities, equipment and services. In addition to the Meeting itself, business networking and promotion opportunities shall also be embedded by presentation slots, exhibition stands & panels with attracting packages to serve the expectation of existing and potential sponsors as well as interested stakeholders in the maritime industry.

Launching of phase I world-class workshop system and logistics centre in Haiphong
Third-party logistics provider Damco and Vietnamese warehouse owner Construction and Mechanic JSC (HTM) have opened a new warehouse in northern Vietnam to support key fashion and retail customers whose sourcing patterns are centred there.
The long-term HTM – Damco partnership will lead to the development of Hai Thanh workshop area with more than 20,000 square metres over the next three years.
Hai Thanh workshop area phase I and Damco logistics centre in Duong Kinh district in the northern port city of Haiphong began construction in 2011 with total investment of $25 million.
The project targets foreign investors operating in ancillary industries, and industries that have little effect to environment. Under the plan, in 2015 the Hai Thanh warehouse project will complete its entire infrastructure and it is expected to come on stream from 2016.
The new warehouse will enable Damco to play a dual role as a warehousing and distribution hub as well as a gateway to attract customers who are actively trading to and from South China via this corridor a key focus for Damcos future development in northern Vietnam.
Located in Haiphong, the third largest city of Vietnam and northern Vietnams most important seaport with its deep-water anchorage and large maritime facilities, the warehouse offers a total combined space of 8,000 square metres.
It reaches high international standards and is well positioned to support increased volumes and offer modern safety, security and fire-fighting systems.
A key focus during construction and operation is the reduction of carbon emissions in accordance with Damcos environmental policy.
The Haiphong warehouse will provide customers with access to key services such as inventory management, order processing, RF scanning, bar coding, vendor and carrier. It also offers value-added services such as cross-border and inland trucking.
Damco established a branch office in Haiphong a few years ago and the current investment in expanding the companys warehousing footprint is a clear sign of the positive expectations about the growth of this economic area.
Marco Civardi, Area managing director of Damco Vietnam/Cambodia said, The inauguration of the Damco Haiphongs warehouse is an important landmark in Damcos long history in Vietnam, further consolidating the companys strategy in this country.
The aim of Damco is to continue providing supply chain management solutions that match its customers increasing volumes, while aiming to outperform market growth in ocean and air products on defined trade-lanes and industry verticals.
